The Health and Safety Commission is responsible for health and safety regulation in Great Britain. The Health and Safety Executive and local government are the enforcing authorities who work in support of the Commission.

In April 2001, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) launched a new Incident Contact Centre (ICC) for all incidents currently reportable under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1995.

Employers have a duty to protect their employee's and to inform them about health and safety issues that affect them. They also have a legal obligation to report certain accidents and incidents, and to pay the employee statutory sick pay, or contractual sick pay if they are entitled to it.

RoSPA is actively involved in the promotion of safety in all areas of life - at work, in the home, and on the roads, in schools, at leisure and on or near water. RoSPA also offers a full range of health and safety training courses.
