| CoursesLegal RequirementThe Health & Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 require that an employer makes an assessment of the first-aid needs that are appropriate to the circumstances of their workplace. Having carried out the assessment and determined the need, the employer is then required to provide adequate and appropriate equipment and facilities and an appropriate number of suitably qualified first-aiders. TrainingPersons appointed to act as first-aiders within the workplace should be given appropriate training which may range from emergency first-aid training to certificated first-aid at work training. Departments in which there are particular hazards may require to have some staff undergo additional specialist training (e.g. for those dealing with hydrofluoric acid).
Frequency of TrainingFirst-aid at work certificates which are issued on completion of a first-aid at work (four day) course are valid for three years. To maintain the validity of the certificate individuals must successfully complete two days of refresher training prior to the expiry of the existing certificate. In addition, employers are advised to ensure that first-aiders undertake self-directed revision to ensure the maintenance of their first-aid skills between refresher courses. 4 Day HSE Approved First Aid at Work CourseThe delegate will be taught in the following key areas based on first aid in the workplace. The course will be tailored to individual workplaces where appropriate. 1 Day appointed persons First AidA one day or half day (3 ½ hours) certificated first aid course, formerly known as the appointed person's course, now known as emergency first aid. The course syllabus is as required under the First Aid Regulations 1981.The course is designed to last for 6 hours and complies with the legal requirements of Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course consists of mainly practical work in the following areas: Legislation/ Record Keeping

The course syllabus is as required under the First Aid Regulations 1981. The course is designed to last for 6 hours and complies with the legal requirements of Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course content can be tailored to the clients needs. The course consists of mainly practical work in the following areas:
2 Day Paediatric Course to Basic Life SupportThis is a first aid course for child carers leading to a certificate which is valid for three years .The training course lasts 2 days ( 12 hours)
